The white wine Gran Clos Barrel Fermented is one of the most elegant and complex white wine expressions from DOQ Priorat. Crafted by Celler Gran Clos in Bellmunt del Priorat, this wine comes from a refined blend combining the power of Grenache Blanc, the balanced freshness of Macabeo, and the vibrant aromatics of Sauvignon Blanc grown on steep slate (llicorella) soils. Fermented and aged in fine oak barrels on its lees, it pairs deep Priorat minerality with creamy texture and crisp acidity.
In the glass, it shows a bright golden-straw yellow with youthful greenish hues. The nose is deep, complex, and markedly mineral, where ripe peach and apricot intertwine with white blossoms, grapefruit zest, warm slate stone, and Mediterranean wild herbs, all wrapped in subtle hints of fresh butter, brioche, and toasted oak. On the palate, it enters broad, silky, and mouth-coating. Structured and rich, its creamy weight is lifted by vibrant citrus acidity, leading to a long, salty, smoky, and lingering finish.
Mineral synergy. Slate minerality and Sauvignon Blanc acidity elevate raw fish iodized flavors effortlessly.
Weight balance. Oak complexity and Grenache Blanc structure cut through duck richness smoothly.
Earthy contrast. Macabeo finesse and rich barrel body complement savory, creamy cheeses seamlessly.
