Càndia is a wine that reflects Oller del Mas' commitment to the territory and the recovery of its winemaking heritage. This blend of Garnatxa (Grenache), Syrah, Merlot, Sumoll, and Picapoll Negre achieves a fascinating balance between well-known international varieties and the singular character of the local ones.

The wine has a bright, medium-intensity cherry-red color. The Picapoll Negre grape doesn't contribute much color on its own, but it does add to the wine's luminosity and transparency.

The aroma is where the influence of the indigenous varieties is most evident. Sumoll brings notes of wild red fruit, like tart cherries and raspberries, and, above all, a mineral freshness and subtle hints of undergrowth. These aromas blend with the black fruit notes of Syrah and the spicy touches of Garnatxa. Picapoll Negre, with its intense aromas, adds a layer of floral complexity and fresh red fruit.

On the palate, the guiding thread is the acidity, an intrinsic characteristic of the Sumoll grape, which gives the wine a surprising liveliness and structure. This acidity, unlike in some other wines, is not aggressive; it invites you to take another sip. The tannins are fine and elegant, not at all astringent, which makes the wine easy to drink. It has a full body, but its acidity and fresh character prevent it from feeling heavy.

In short, the Càndia is more than just a red wine; it's a window into the landscape and history of the Pla de Bages. The use of Sumoll gives it a rustic, Mediterranean personality, while Picapoll Negre complements it with subtle aromatic notes that make it unique. It's an excellent example of how local varieties can add a distinctive value and an unmistakable character to a wine.
