Javier Sanz Fermentado en Barrica White Wine showcases the most gastronomic, complex, and sophisticated side of the Verdejo grape in DO Rueda. Crafted by Javier Sanz Viticultor in La Seca (Valladolid) from selected old vines grown on stony soils, this 100% Verdejo single-varietal undergoes fermentation and 6 months of aging in French oak barrels with lees stirring. The result is a full-bodied, age-worthy white wine where fruit purity and oak integration strike an extraordinary balance.
In the glass, Javier Sanz Fermentado en Barrica shines with a bright golden-yellow hue accented by lemon-gold highlights reflecting its oak heritage. The nose is extraordinarily complex, revealing ripe stone fruit, dried apricots, and candied orange peel interwoven with creamy butter, toasted brioche, vanilla, anise, and a touch of roasted nuts. On the palate, it enters with broad, velvety presence; its mid-palate is rich, creamy, and mouth-coating, impeccably balanced by vibrant acidity that carries through to a long, persistent finish with noble smoky undertones.
Structural & citrus synergy. Full body and candied fruit notes embrace rich duck fat while crisp acidity keeps the pairing lively.
Smoky & creamy harmony. Buttery oak notes melt into rich braised stew while Verdejo acidity cleanses the palate seamlessly.
Rich & nutty contrast. The wine's creamy texture and barrel volume stand up perfectly to sharp, aged cheese complexity.
