Arnau Oller represents the most noble, cultured, and sophisticated spirit of the historic Heretat Oller del Mas winery. Named in honor of one of the family's 12th-century ancestors, this extraordinary estate organic wine is born from a meticulous selection of the finest Merlot plots combined with the native singularity of Picapoll Negre. Aged with ultimate care for 12 months in fine-grained French oak barrels, this is a very limited-production, premium aging red wine that masterfully captures the maximum complexity, elegance, and minerality of the DO Pla de Bages terroir.
In the glass, it captivates with a deep and intense ruby red color, featuring elegant garnet rims that hint at its magnificent cellaring potential. On the nose, it is imposing, noble, and deeply aristocratic; it initially unfolds intense notes of very ripe red and black fruits, plum jam, and cherries in liqueur, which quickly give way to a sublime tertiary complexity. Aromas of pure cocoa, roasted coffee, tobacco box, balsamic hints of Mediterranean undergrowth, and a distinct mineral and smoky background gracefully emerge. On the palate, it is a wine of great personality and opulence, with a velvety entry and a profound mid-palate, where mature and perfectly integrated tannins are balanced by a stately acidity that brings surprising freshness. A long, persistent, and moving wine that evolves fascinatingly in the glass.
The powerful structure and velvety texture of Arnau Oller embrace the rich, seared raw meat, while the mineral and aging notes link micro-biologically with the deep aroma of black truffles.
An haute-gastronomy pairing where the cocoa and roasted oak notes of the wine act as a harmonious mirror to the dark chocolate grated over the risotto, backed by the mushroom's earthiness.
The power and electric freshness of Picapoll Negre effortlessly cut through the creamy, salty character of a great blue cheese, while the mature Merlot aligns beautifully with the sweetness of the fig.
