Ombra is one of the most expressive red wines from La Cova dels Vins, situated in the heart of DO Montsant. Grown on slate (llicorella) and clay soils, this blend harmonzies the juicy fruit of Black Grenache, the structure of Samsó (Carignan), and the spicy touch of Syrah. Carefully aged in oak barrels, it offers a rich, smooth, and deeply mineral Mediterranean experience.
Narrative Tasting Note
In the glass, Ombra displays a brilliant cherry-red color with garnet rims and dense legs. The nose is rich and complex, opening with aromas of ripe dark fruits—such as blackberries, blueberries, and dark plums—complemented by spicy notes of black pepper, vanilla, and fine toasted oak. As it opens up, subtle slate minerality and wild Mediterranean herbs emerge. On the palate, it is full-bodied, fleshy, and well-structured; smooth on entry, it unveils ripe, rounded tannins supported by balanced acidity that keeps the wine lively. The finish is long, warm, and persistent, leaving lingering echoes of cocoa, preserve fruits, and sweet spices.
