Finca Malaveïna is one of Perelada's flagship icons and one of the rare wines granted the prestigious Vi de Finca Qualificada designation in DO Empordà. Sourced from a unique vineyard in Garriguella featuring stony, clay slopes overlooking the Mediterranean, this blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, and Red Grenache thrives under the Tramuntana wind. Aged for 18 months in new French oak barrels, it yields remarkable complexity, structure, and cellaring potential.
In the glass, it boasts a deep dark cherry color with garnet edges and high opacity. The nose opens up into a fascinating, complex bouquet where ripe dark berries—blackberries, blueberries, and plum preserves—intertwine with graphite minerals, cedarwood, cigar box, dark chocolate, roasted coffee, and fresh Mediterranean herbs like thyme and black pepper. On the palate, it is monumental, serious, and profound; it enters with majesty and delivers extraordinary volume, anchored by fleshy yet silky tannins and noble acidity that keeps the wine balanced. The finish is endless, leaving long-lasting spicy and mineral memories.
Venison match. The fleshy structure of Merlot and Cabernet wraps around rich game meat while French oak spices complement dark cocoa notes.
Traditional stew pairing. Noble tannins and mineral depth cut through rich savory stew flavors, leaving a long balsamic finish.
Bold contrast. The weight and volume of the wine hold up seamlessly against creamy, salty blue cheese textures.
