Stepping into Bodegas Muga means embarking on a journey to the heart of Haro’s Station District, where Riojan winemaking tradition remains more alive than ever. Founded in 1932, this family of winegrowers has captivated generation after generation through absolute respect for the Rioja Alta terroir and a masterly command of wood aging.

Muga is one of the very few wineries that maintains its own in-house cooperage, crafting vats and barrels from meticulously selected oak. The result is wines of timeless elegance, vibrant freshness, silky tannins, and an exceptional aging potential that delights both collectors and wine lovers alike.

The Rioja Alta Terroir

Muga’s vineyards sit on the slopes of the Cantabria and Obarenes mountain ranges. The combination of clay-limestone and ferrous soils with an Atlantic, continental, and Mediterranean climate provides grapes with exceptional acidity and perfect ripening potential.

Cooperage & Traditional Fining

Muga is one of the few wineries globally with an in-house cooperage. Master coopers build and season French and American oak barrels. Furthermore, they preserve the refined technique of fining with fresh egg whites prior to bottling.
