The red wine Prado Enea Gran Reserva from Bodegas Muga is an undisputed masterpiece of DOCa Rioja and a global icon of classic Haro elegance. Crafted predominantly from Tempranillo, Garnacha and Mazuelo sourced from high-altitude, late-ripening vineyard plots, this Gran Reserva is produced solely in outstanding vintages. Its extended aging in oak and prolonged cellaring in the bottle yield an aristocratically refined wine with astounding complexity and virtually endless aging potential.
In the glass, it presents an elegant ruby-red color with medium-high depth and a delicate brick-garnet rim revealing its noble maturity. On the nose, it is a true aromatic symphony of sublime complexity: ripe stewed red and dark fruit notes like plums, dried figs, and cherry liqueur emerge first, swiftly followed by a tertiary tapestry of fine oak, fine leather, cigar box, fallen autumn leaves, and graphite. With time and oxygen, soft touches of cinnamon, clove, dark chocolate, roasted coffee beans, and a fragrant cedar wood undertone unfold. On the palate, it is pure refinement and silkiness. An aristocratic entry leads into a perfectly harmonious flow where velvet-like, deeply polished tannins intertwine with lively, vibrant acidity that imparts surprising freshness. The finish is everlasting, endlessly aromatic, and memorable, leaving lingering memories of licorice, sweet spices, and sacred wood.
High-end game cuisine pairing. The deep, earthy flavors of hare and truffle find their ultimate match in the silky tannins and tertiary complexity of Prado Enea.
A match of pure sensitivity. The lean texture of venison meat alongside cocoa and chestnut notes connects effortlessly with the fine oak, sweet spices, and dark chocolate undertones of this Gran Reserva.
An intense pairing contrast. The vibrant acidity and elegant concentration of this wine slice through the richness of blue cheese, while dried fig and stewed fruit notes mirror the cheese's complexity.
