Casa Mariol Traditional Rancio Wine is a living tribute to the winemaking memory of DO Terra Alta, masterfully crafted by Casa Mariol winery in Batea. This traditional dry rancio wine is made from native white varieties subjected to long oxidative aging in ancient oak soleras. A dry, deep, and nostalgic wine that recovers the quintessence of traditional fortified Catalan wines, elevating them into an avant-garde gastronomic gem.
In the glass, Casa Mariol Traditional Rancio Wine glows with a beautiful dark amber color accented by mahogany tones, old-gold reflections, and tile-red rims. The nose unfolds a deep and irresistibly complex aromatic display: roasted nut perfumes—such as hazelnuts, walnuts, and almonds—immediately emerge, intertwined with carob, dried figs, candied orange peel, noble oak, and the characteristic mineral-rancio undertones of old soleras. On the palate, it delivers pure character and elegance; its entry is dry, broad, and velvety, where full body and warmth are beautifully counterbalanced by lively acidity that cleanses the palate. The tasting experience is aromatic, deep, and persistent, leaving a long finish filled with toasted nuts and seasoned oak echoes.
An haute-cuisine savory pairing. Hazelnut and old oak notes of this dry rancio wine embrace wild mushroom earthiness and ham umami.
A creamy sweet-and-salty match. Aged cheese intensity finds its counterpoint in the dry, toasted depth of this wine.
A modern take on traditional Mediterranean desserts. Toasted wine notes fuse naturally with roasted almonds and pure dark cocoa.
