Pagos de Anguix 822 (Ocho Dos Dos) is a masterclass in high-altitude winemaking from the heart of DO Ribera del Duero. Crafted by Pagos de Anguix, this wine takes its name from the exact 822 meters above sea level where its 100% Tinto Fino (Tempranillo) vines thrive. The extreme continental climate with drastic day-to-night temperature swings and limestone-rich soils produce exceptional aromatic intensity matched by natural acidity. Matured carefully in oak barrels, this red delivers remarkable depth, structure, and chalky minerality.

Narrative Tasting Note

In the glass, it commands attention with a deep black-cherry red color highlighted by vibrant violet glints. The nose is a striking display of aromatic purity and complexity: intense wild blackberries, ripe blueberries, and dark plums mingle with delicate violet florality and a distinct limestone minerality. Oak maturation brings sophisticated nuances of dark cocoa, cedarwood, clove, roasted coffee beans, and sweet black licorice. On the palate, it opens broad, rich, and full-bodied, featuring fleshy yet silky tannins. The high elevation of 822 meters provides a crisp, mouth-watering acidity that keeps the wine agile and balanced through to a long, mineral, and gracefully spiced finish.

Groundbreaking & Mediterranean Gastronomic Pairings

Duck Breast with wild berry reduction and 70% dark chocolate glaze

Fine dining match. The rich duck meat and cocoa bitterness are perfectly countered by the firm tannins and oak spices of Pagos de Anguix 822.

Venison or Wild Boar Stew with juniper berries, plums, and truffled potato purée

Rich and savory. The intensity of game meats is seamlessly lifted by the vibrant natural acidity and chalky minerality of this high-altitude Tempranillo.

Aged Blue Cheese (Valdeón or Cabrales) wrapped in fig leaves

Bold contrast. The sharp, salty profile of blue cheese is balanced by the wine's lush dark fruit core and velvety mouthfeel.
