Raventós d'Alella Pansa Blanca white wine stands as the historical essence, pure refinement, and ultimate expression of a unique grape and a singular terroir. Masterfully crafted by the prestigious Raventós d'Alella estate, part of the 15 Bodegas group, this monovarietal Pansa Blanca comes from selected vineyards growing on the region's iconic sauló soils. Through precise vinification and deliberate, delicate work with its fine lees, the wine strikes a brilliant balance between vibrant Mediterranean freshness and a smooth, full-bodied mouthfeel. A must-have bottle to truly understand the noble elegance and distinct mineral identity of DO Alella's high-caliber white wines.
In the glass, it reveals a beautiful, bright yellow color with subtle golden and pale green highlights that bring lovely luminosity. The nose feels remarkably clear, clean, and charming, immediately releasing delicate aromas of ripe white fruit like apple and orchard pear, enriched by subtle traces of apricot and citrus zests. Soon after, elegant notes of spring white blossoms, green almonds, and a captivating mineral core emerge, leading straight to the character of decomposed granite soils and the salinity of the coastal breeze. On the palate, the entry is smooth, silky, and surprisingly broad. Its movement across the mouth stands out due to a magnificent volume derived from lees contact, which is flawlessly balanced by a lively, crisp acidity that keeps the wine fresh and structured at all times. The finish is long, velvety, and persistent, leaving clean memories of white orchard fruits and a distinctive saline, slightly bitter touch—so true to this grape variety—that gracefully extends the experience.
The melt-in-the-mouth texture of the cod merges beautifully with the wine's rich volume and lees-derived smoothness. Furthermore, the mineral and saline essence of Pansa Blanca highlights the fish's natural sea flavours, while the toasted pine nuts mirror the grape's subtle nutty accents.
An extraordinary local pairing. The noble structure and stellar acidity of Raventós d'Alella effortlessly slice through the richness of the stew's traditional nut-and-garlic paste, resetting the palate without losing any power against the deep, sophisticated fragrance of saffron.
The luxury of red tuna demands a white wine with substantial body and depth. The delicate bitter twist and the electric minerality of this Pansa Blanca perfectly counter the sweet and citrusy notes of the ponzu sauce, delivering a memorable Asian-Mediterranean harmony.
