The white wine Alceño Sauvignon Blanc Fermented in Barrel is one of the most elegant and unique surprises from DO Jumilla. Crafted by Bodegas Alceño, a pioneer in high-quality winemaking in the region, this white wine breaks traditional molds by combining the unmistakable aromatic freshness of Sauvignon Blanc with the richness and structure gained from careful oak barrel fermentation and aging. An artisanal white wine with great body and culinary versatility.

Tasting Note

When poured into the glass, it displays an attractive and bright golden yellow color with straw highlights and a subtle steely glint. The nose opens in a complex and alluring fashion, where classic tropical and citrus Sauvignon Blanc notes —such as passion fruit, fresh pineapple, and grapefruit zest— mingle effortlessly with refined toasted nuances, fine pastry, fresh butter, and vanilla notes from oak aging. As it breathes, delicate hints of smoked wood and dry herbs emerge. On the palate, it is broad, creamy, and remarkably well-balanced. The mouthfeel is rich and full-bodied, yet stays continuously fresh and lively thanks to a crisp acidity that lifts the oak without hiding the fruit. The finish is long, persistent, and flavorful, leaving lingering memories of ripe fruit, toasted nuts, and a touch of minerality.

Groundbreaking Pairings

Homemade smoked salmon tartar with dill mayonnaise, avocado, and capers

Smoky and creamy harmony. Toasted barrel notes and crisp Sauvignon Blanc acidity slice through salmon richness while highlighting smoky flavors.

Homemade seasonal mushroom risotto topped with Iberian ham shavings and truffle

Earthy and structured synergy. Creamy risotto textures align seamlessly with barrel-fermented body and pastry notes.

Artisanal semi-cured goat cheese drizzled with wildflower honey and toasted nuts

Sweet and dairy contrast. Smooth oak aging and ripe fruit nuances elevate goat cheese creaminess without overloading the palate.
