La Nit de les Garnatxes Llicorella is a cornerstone of the terroir project by Celler de Capçanes in DO Montsant. This single-varietal Red Grenache comes exclusively from vineyards planted on llicorella (slate) soils, bringing exceptional focus, depth, and dark mineral energy. Aged for 4 months in French oak barrels, it is a structured, intense, and deeply expressive red wine.
Narrative Tasting Note
In the glass, it displays a deep garnet-red color of medium-high depth with dark purple reflections. The nose immediately reveals the unmistakable signature of slate soil; graphite, flint, and subtle smokiness intertwine with rich dark fruit aromas of blackberries, blueberries, and dark plums. As it breathes, hints of black pepper, dark chocolate, and wild Mediterranean herbs unfold. On the palate, it is pure mineral tension; entering with power before revealing a fleshy, vertical body supported by firm tannins and crisp natural acidity. The finish is long, mineral, and intensely persistent.
